Palestinian rep cautions about Arab normaliztion

Naser Abu Sharif says there is a concerted international effort to represent Iran as the enemy No 1 of the regional nations instead of Israel.

Representative of the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine, Naser Abu Sharif says there is a concerted international effort to represent Iran as the enemy No 1 of the regional nations instead of Israel.

Abu Sharif was speaking in a panel discussion in Tehran on Palestine and the prospect ahead held in the Iranian presidential depart of Palestine.

The Palestinian personality said Israel at the moment is in a special situation due to the coming to power of a major Israel supporter in the US and the critical situation in the region “that has caused the regional countries to pay more attention to the conflict with terrorism than the Palestinian issue.”

Abu Sharif also called the Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas a “large blessing” for helping Israeli security.

“Mahmoud Abbas government is categorically relying on foreign powers like Israel and the USA rather than the Palestinian nation,” he said, adding the PA had been the largest obstacle to the anti-occupation Palestinian intifada.

The Palestinian representative said the Syrian crisis has distracted the Muslim attention from the Palestinian issue, adding “Syria, always in the line of resistance has now turned into the weakest loop of the resistance chain due to the terror crisis imposed on the country.”

The Islamic Jihad representative said the latest Arab League session showed the Arab authorities no longer consider the Palestinian issue as a priority while the authorities strived to replace Israel with Iran as the enemy of the regional countries.

He said there was a political reticence in the region concerning the Arab normalization efforts, adding Israel was buying time amid the regional conditions for implementing its population transfer project that would render more Palestinians refugees.
